Different Types of Hair Extensions and Their Care

Tape in Hair Extensions
Tape in hair extensions come prepared with tape or glue which can be fixed to your natural hair to offer volume and length to it. Our expert hair stylist will heat the glue up using a special tool while making sure to align the extensions with your roots.

How to take care of them?

We often recommend our customers special hair products that are specifically designed for tape in extensions as they less likely to loosen the glue. These hair extensions can be styled but need gentle handling around the roots. These can last up to 4 to 8 weeks before they need to be removed and reapplied. It depends on how proper care you take!Different Types of Hair Extensions and Their Care 7Different Types of Hair Extensions and Their Care 9

Clip-in Hair Extensions
Clip in hair extensions are easier to apply and least damaging to the hair and scalp. But these hair extensions are the least permanent and come in different widths and are held together at the base with silicon or fabric that is attached to a clip. The hair extensions can be placed easily without any assistance.

How to properly take care of them?

Clip in hair extensions require similar care as the other extensions need. The caring process varies depending upon the type of extensions i.e. be it human hair or synthetic. Such hair extensions must be washed, conditioned, air-dried, and carefully combed roughly once a month or more frequently in case products build up. These hair extensions can last for 3 to 6 months with regular wear, but only when proper care is taken.

Wefts/ Weave-in Hair Extensions
Wefts or weave-in extensions, also known as sewn-in hair extensions are individual hair strands are woven into a fine cloth which may vary in width. Wefts can be sewn using hands or machine. Hand sewn wefts are usually lighter and more delicate as compared to the machine-sewn wefts. To add wefts to your natural hair flawlessly, we first braid your natural hair into cornrows and then stitch the weft into it using a needle and thread. It takes several hours to attach the wefts. Moreover, if you have thin or fine hair then we will not recommend you to go for it.

How to properly take care of these hair extensions?

You must weekly deep moisturize your scalp and edges of the hair as these extensions put strain on your scalp. We often recommend use of special protein wash for decreasing the damage to natural hair. Wefts can last up to 4 to 6 weeks.
